Welcome to Foxes Class

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back to the new school year. We hope you are excited as we are about being back at school after the Summer break and you enjoyed your family time together.

You have been sent, along with this letter, the class topic overview so you can support us in your child’s learning this term. This term we are learning about the Mighty Metals with an approach to looking at how magnets and force help in our daily lives. It would be so appreciated if you could encourage and support your child in learning about the magnetic force around us so they can share any interesting tips they have learnt with you at home.

This term brings some exciting developments within our curriculum and the way we organise learning across the school. As part of our continued commitment to providing the very best opportunities for every child, we have been developing our mixed-age planning and learning approach.

This means that, at different points throughout the week and across the curriculum, children will have opportunities to learn alongside children of different ages and stages. We believe this approach offers many valuable benefits. Younger children can learn from older pupils, while older children have opportunities to develop confidence, leadership and responsibility by supporting and working with younger children.

Year 3 and 4 Common Exception Words

The National Curriculum for Year 3 and 4 specifies 100 common exception words the children need to learn to read and spell. Please continue to revise these with your children and work through the spelling sheets which are sent and will be sent home weekly to consolidate learning.
